With her brows together from concern the young mother asked, "Why would I have others screen my baby boy, the doctor says he's perfect!"
Our babies are always perfect; just because he/she is found to have a hard time seeing clearly or hearing perfectly does not diminish how perfect they are. Finding out that he is not recognizing things as quickly as another child does not make him less.
Screenings are available to help address and support our children through any difficulties that they may have through those first crucial years of cognitive development. They come with solutions to assist the children reach their full potential.
Our brains development from ages birth to 3 years old does 80% of its overall job for the child's life. Wow, think of a job where 80% of the work is done in the first 1 to 2 % of the lifespan. It is amazing how many things are going on with them all at once!
So please do not fear or judge, get them screened and feel comfortable that you have done all you can to help them develop.
