Opportunities

Extended educational options are essential for youth because they provide more opportunities to learn and grow, help struggling students succeed, help all students explore interests, prepare for the future, and become well-rounded individuals.

Examples include after-school programs, summer camps/schools, vocational education, community colleges, and online learning.

These options can reduce the achievement gap, increase graduation rates, prepare students for college and the workforce, and help youth reach their full potential.

Here are a few of the most important benefits:

  • To provide students with more opportunities to learn and grow. Extended educational options can help students develop new skills and knowledge and explore different interests.

  • To help students who are struggling to keep up in school. Extended educational options can give students the extra help they need to succeed in their core academic subjects. This can help them graduate high school and prepare for college or career training.

  • To provide students with opportunities to explore their interests and talents. Extended educational options can help students find their passions and develop their skills.

  • To prepare students for the challenges of the 21st century. The world is changing rapidly, and young people need to be ready for the challenges of the 21st century. Extended educational options can help students develop the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in a global economy.

  • To help students become well-rounded individuals. Extended educational options can help students to develop their social, emotional, and physical skills. This can help them become well-rounded individuals prepared to contribute to their communities.

Extended educational options are invaluable for our youth to succeed in school, life, and the world.

Here are some specific examples of extended educational options:

  • Afterschool programs: Afterschool programs provide students opportunities to learn and grow in a fun and engaging environment. These programs can offer a variety of activities, such as tutoring, homework help, enrichment classes, and sports and recreation.

  • Summer camp/school: Summer camps provide students with opportunities to catch up on schoolwork or to get ahead. This can be especially helpful for students struggling in school or wanting to take more challenging courses.

  • Vocational education: Vocational education gives students the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in a particular trade or career. This can be a good option for students not interested in a traditional college or who want to get a head start on their professions.

  • Community colleges: Community colleges offer a wide variety of courses, including academic courses, vocational courses, and non-credit courses. This makes them a good option for students looking for a flexible and affordable way to continue their education.

  • Online learning: Online learning allows students to take courses from anywhere in the world. This can be a good option for students who cannot attend traditional classes or want to learn at their own pace.

By providing students with more opportunities to learn and grow, we can help them to reach their full potential.

In addition to the benefits listed above, extended educational options can also:

  • Reduce the achievement gap: Extended educational options can help to reduce the achievement gap between students from different backgrounds.

  • Increase graduation rates: Extended educational options can help to increase graduation rates. This is because they can help students stay on track to graduate and complete their coursework.

  • Prepare students for college: Extended educational options can help to prepare students for college. This is because they can give students the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in college-level coursework.

  • Prepare students for the workforce: Extended educational options can help to prepare students for the workforce. This is because they can give students the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in a particular trade or career.

In short, extended educational options are a valuable investment in our youth.

Our Whizzard Academy is an afterschool program for K-8th grade and has a waiting list but will open enrollment again in 2024. https://www.childrensmuseumofmontana.org/whizzardacademy

Our STEAM Camps go year round any day school is not in. You can go to that tab and enroll your child now for any camp that is not already full. https://www.childrensmuseumofmontana.org/camps

If our program is not the perfect fit, there are many around our community to reach out to! Let's create a bright future for all.
